About Our Foundation
In December 2015, in the township of New Edubiase in the Ashanti region of Ghana, a poignant exchange took place between a young man named Bright Antwi Apraku and a girl at a community church, centered around the essence of Christmas, the most revered festive season worldwide. Inquiring about her Christmas plans or expectations, Bright was met with a response that resonated deeply. It was a response not of anticipation or joy but rather one marred by the absence of familial warmth and material gestures, likely due to the hardships plaguing her family.
Moved by the girl's poignant admission, Bright was inspired to act. He conceived the idea of organizing a dinner for the children under his tutelage at the church's Sunday school, including the girl who had stirred his compassion. What began as a humble initiative to provide a nourishing meal for these children to savor during Christmas soon evolved into something more significant. With the invaluable assistance of his friends Richard, Michael, and Samuel, Bright embarked on a mission to perpetuate these moments of joy and camaraderie. Thus, the nonprofit organization Besam Friendship LBG was born, marking the genesis of a heartfelt endeavor to spread love and compassion within the community.
